Grid Unwoven

Grid Unwoven
For the CRAFT × TECH Tokai Project, I collaborated with the international design studio Lanzavecchia + Wai and produced the handmade washi for the installation Grid Unwoven.
Using traditional Mino washi-making techniques, each sheet was carefully crafted by adjusting its thickness, fiber distribution, and translucency.
The natural texture of handmade washi softly diffuses light, creating subtle changes in appearance depending on the viewer’s perspective and the surrounding light.
Inspired by the traditional Japanese shoji, the installation reinterprets the relationship between washi, light, wood, and architectural space in a contemporary form.
